About Maura
Welcome to Fresh Outlook! I'm passionate about supporting children (ages 3+), teens, and parents through all stages of the parenting journey—from infertility and pregnancy to postpartum, adoption, and beyond. Whether you're experiencing the joys and struggles of parenthood, adjusting to family changes, or seeking support for your child's emotional well-being, I'm here to help.
My Approach
I believe in creating a warm, playful, and collaborative space where you and your child can feel comfortable sharing your experiences. My approach is strengths-based and client-centered, meaning I tailor therapy to your family's unique needs and goals. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, Theraplay®, child-centered play therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and attachment-based therapy. These approaches are easily adapted to meet the developmental needs of children and teens, ensuring that each individual feels understood and supported. I'm also working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist.
To help children and families understand and process their experiences, I often use creative and engaging techniques, such as visual aids, games, and activities. I believe in empowering families to continue their growth outside of sessions and encourage active participation in their therapeutic journey.
Additional Specialized Support for Pregnancy and Infant Loss
I understand the profound grief and emotional complexities that accompany pregnancy loss, infant loss, and infertility. These experiences can be incredibly isolating and challenging to navigate. With specialized training through Postpartum Support International, I offer compassionate and informed support to individuals and families as they heal and find ways to move forward.
My Experience
I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, with a focus on clinical practice with families and children. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with experience working in diverse settings, including elementary schools and medical settings (Emergency Room, Pediatric ICU, NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Pediatric Brain Injury). This experience has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges children and families may face.
More About Me
In my free time, I enjoy giving back to my community through volunteering, spending time with animals, fishing, and traveling with my family. And just for fun – if I weren't a therapist, I'd probably be a lobster fisherwoman!

Navigating the Emotional Landscape of Pregnancy & Postpartum
Pregnancy and the postpartum period can bring a mix of emotions, sometimes leading to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) like depression and anxiety. Experiences like infant loss and infertility can intensify these challenges. Even without these specific struggles, the postpartum period can be vulnerable.
Finding Support for Perinatal Challenges
At Fresh Outlook, you'll find compassionate support for your perinatal journey. Whether you're navigating infertility, grieving infant loss, or adjusting to postpartum life (including adoption!), I offer a safe space to process your emotions and find strength.
