Why Play Therapy?
Maura utilizes Play Therapy and TheraplayⓇ techniques in her practice. See some of the below resources to learn more about these approaches.
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy uses play, a child's natural language, to help them communicate their feelings, work through challenges, and learn new ways of coping. It allows children to express what they might not be able to put into words. Through toys, art, and storytelling, children can process difficult emotions, build self-esteem, and develop healthier behaviors.
Supporting Your Child Through Challenges
I offer a variety of play therapy approaches tailored to your child's unique needs. Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, struggling with big feelings, or navigating family changes, play therapy can help.
Play therapy can be particularly helpful for children facing challenges related to attachment, trauma, or life transitions. For example, it can help strengthen the bond between children and their caregivers, provide a safe space to process difficult experiences, and support children through adoption, family changes like divorce or custody issues, and other challenges.
Play Therapy for Teens
Even teenagers can benefit from play therapy! While traditional toys might not be the focus, we can use creative arts, games, and expressive activities to explore their challenges, build coping strategies, and navigate the complexities of adolescence.
